P.V: 11 October 2018 (6 - 9pm) 11 October - 14 December 2018
Press Release Mrs Rick’s Cupboard is pleased to invite you to our next exhibition, ’BOON’ an installation of drawings by artist, Ben Jamie.
The paintings and drawings of Ben Jamie explore the boundaries between the grotesque and the saccharine and seek to turn the mundane into the unusual. Inspiration comes from many sources be it studio detritus, fly-tipping, transhumanism or fast food. Whilst based somewhere in reality, the paintings are fairly undisturbed by the real world. This allows Jamie to create notional, metamorphic spaces, and fabricate an idealised past or future, which can be populated with allegorical figures and objects.
Ben Jamie lives and works in London. He completed the Painters Studio Programme at Turps Art School in 2016. Recent solo exhibitions include, Comfortably Dumb (2018) and Sense Data (2016) both at Castor Projects, London. Group exhibitions include: Dude, Incredible, Unit 1 Gallery, London; The Talking Lamp, The Kennington Residency, London; John Moores Painting Prize 2016, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Check Your Pockets, CueB Gallery, London (all 2016)
